USING EDMODO APPLICATION AS A DIGITAL PLATFORM IN ENHANCING THE RESEARCH WRITING SKILLS OF GRADE 12 STUDENTS

The study determines the effectiveness of using the Edmodo application in enhancing the research writing skills of Grade 12 students. Writing sensible sentences and logically organized paragraphs is among the requisites in reporting data and information collected in certain studies, an important competency in the Practical Research subject in the Senior High School. Unfortunately, with the personal experience of the researchers, it was found that approximately 70% of the Grade 12 learners struggled in coming up with comprehensive research reports. Thus, the researchers implemented an intervention called the Edmodo application as a digital platform that is aptly appropriate to address distance learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to enhance the research writing skills of the Grade 12 students. The participants were grouped into control and experimental composed of 23 participants in each group. The results of the study explicitly indicate an improved competency level of the experimental group from very good to excellent while the control group exhibits an average competency level with no signs of improvement in the post-test. A significant difference in the competency levels between the control and experimental group is also evident. Hence, the Edmodo application is deemed effective in enhancing the research writing skills of Grade 12 students.
