Elevating the Level of Awareness of Teachers on WinS Program
Through Intensified Information Dissemination

A clean, safe school with knowledgeable and well-informed teachers inspire students to come to school, excel in class and eventually finish high school as better and more competitive individuals. With the current situation of the school where garbage is found everywhere, problems on the availability of water in handwashing areas and comfort rooms and with the information caught about the Department of Education’s
Program on WinS, this research came to existence. This study focused on elevating the level of awareness of SNNHS teachers on WinS Program through Water Supply Availability, Sanitation Practices, Hygiene,
Deworming and Health Education. One hundred eight (108) teachers were considered in this study all were advisers from grade seven (7) up to grade twelve (12). A pre-survey was administered through a questionnaire followed by different activities to elevate the level of awareness of teachers then a post-survey to check the difference in the level of awareness. Interventions such as; WinS Program orientation to teachers, provision of pails, dippers and faucets, posting of IEC materials, hand washing demonstration and conduct of deworming activity were successfully done. The statistical tools used were the Frequency Count, Mean, Standard Deviation and t-test.The findings of the study revealed that before the conduct of the interventions the level of awareness of the teachers was Low and after the implementation of the different activities it improved to High Level. The t-test disclosed that there was a significant difference between the pre and the post–survey. In the light of the findings of the study, the interventions that were implemented
were very helpful in elevating the level of awareness of the teachers on WinS Program that leads to a cleaner, safer school and hopefully healthy students free from sickness that will be observed in the latter part of the school year. Thus, the school, the teachers, staff and most of all the students were the ones benefitted by this study.
